Balcony of the second floor of a house in HUDCO Colony, Peelamedu, caved in on Sunday afternoon damaging a car. None was injured.

According to the car owner, N. Venkateswaran, he heard a loud noise around 1.45 p.m. when he was at home. When he rushed out to find out what had happened, he saw a portion of wall and bricks on his car. The roof, windshield, etc. were completely damaged.

The occupant of the second floor house G. Poomugan said that minutes after his daughter had dried clothes on the clothesline in the balcony and moved to another room, he heard a loud noise. He for a moment thought that two four-wheelers had collided but then realised that the source of noise was much closer.

When he ventured out of a room, he realised that it was the balcony of his house. Mr. Venkateswaran said that the second floor balcony fell on the first floor balcony and the wall on his car.

Mr. Poomugan said that he had alerted the owner of his house. Mr. Venkateswaran said that he had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard.

The incident caused quite a stir in the locality.
