Department of Government Examinations introduces online application facility

The Department of Government Examinations has invited applications for the Higher Secondary supplementary examinations to be held in October.

A release from the office of the Chief Education Officer, Coimbatore, says that this year the Department had introduced online application facility.

The details regarding the examinations and application format could be accessed by visiting www.dge.tn.nic.in.

The examinations are open for those who were not able to clear papers in the higher secondary examinations the Department had conducted earlier and those who were taking the examinations as private candidates for the first time.

Categories

Applicants who were repeating papers would come under category ‘H’ and those who were appearing for the first time would come under Category ‘HP'.

Those under ‘HP’ should have completed Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination or its equivalent at least two years ago and should have, as on September 1, 2012, completed 16-and-half years of age.

Those under ‘HP’ category should, in addition to the two language papers, choose any of the following combination of subjects: Group 304 (History, Economics, Commerce and Statistics), Group 305 (Economics, Political Science, Commerce and Statistics), Group 306 (Economics, Commerce, Statistics and Indian Culture), Group 307 (Economics, Commerce, Statistics and Special Language (Tamil)), or Group 308 (Economics, Commerce, Statistics and Business Maths).

Fees

The release also says that those applying under Category ‘H’ should pay Rs. 50 for each of the subjects applied and an additional fee of Rs. 35. Those under Category ‘HP’ should pay examination fee Rs. 150, additional fee Rs. 35 and hearing/speaking test fee Rs. 2.

The applications should use only downloaded challans and pay the fee mentioned through any of the core banking-enabled branches of the Indian Overseas Bank to the Director of Government Examinations, Chennai 6.

The release asks applicants to make a note of the number mentioned in the downloaded application form, as they will have to quote the number in all correspondence with the Department. It also suggests that they also take a photocopy of the application form.

Moreover, the release also says that the Department will accept only downloaded applications and not those obtained directly.

Those interested could register at the website from September 7 to 12 and they could download filled-in application and challan only till September 12.

And the last date for payment of examination fee is September 13.

Last date

After completing the formalities and obtaining the necessary signatures, the applicants should submit the application forms and challan at the regional offices of the Department of Government Examinations either through registered post or in person on or before September 18.
