All about automobiles under one roof

A Willys 1958 and Rolls-Royce Ghost share the same roof here; children aged between eight and 13 enjoy driving a Yamaha motorcycle; and automobile enthusiasts are busy capturing images of their favourite cars - It is Automatech 2012 at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.

An automotive expo organised by Pinnacle Promotions till December 30, the event has nearly 75 participants. Audi, Rolls-Royce, Harley Davidson, Maruti, Yamaha, Vespa, and TVS are among the exhibitors at the event, displaying cars and motorcycles.

Spread over 7,500 sq.mt. exhibition space, the event also has accessory suppliers, automobile component makers, and gadget companies. These with automotive navigation gadgets, tyre protection, and easy car wash tools, car customisation service provider, financiers, and automobile associations make the exhibition a one stop shop for automobile enthusiasts.

The vintage car gallery, bike stunt show, and cultural events are the additional attractions at the event. The Yamaha Kidz pavilion has small Yamaha bikes that children can try driving.

The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and about 70,000 visitors are expected. Nearly 40 per cent of the participation is directly by the companies. The entry fee is Rs. 100 a person. Mayor S.M. Veluswamy inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday. The Hindu is the media partner for the event.
