Police conducted a thorough search with the help of sniffer dogs and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) here, following receipt of an anonymous call threatening that a bomb had been planted at the institution on Friday.
However, the call turned out to be hoax, as no bombs or explosives were detected in the search, police said today.
The call was received by the Registrar of TNAU.
The caller told the Registrar that the bomb would explode on any day between February 12 and 25 and rescue himself and hundreds of students, if it was possible to him, the police said.
The call was reportedly been traced to a booth in Alandurai in the rural limits and efforts were on find out the caller, police said.
Similar calls were also received at a Government ITI and two private technical institutes in the district, police said.
