Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), K. Radhakrishnan on Saturday launched the website of the Coimbatore City Police (www.coimbatorecitypolice.com) in the presence of City Police Commissioner, C. Sylendra Babu.
Inspector General of Police, West Zone, P. Sivanandi, DIG of Police, Coimbatore Range, B. Bala Nagadevi, Superintendent of Police, Tirupur (holding additional charge of Coimbatore), Deputy Commissioners of Police, P. Nagarajan (Law and Order), N. Kamini (Crime and Traffic), E.S. Uma (Headquarters) and others took part.
The website with the title “We are very near you ……. To Protect and to Serve You” is designed by Mastermind Solutions.
Friendly force
Dr.Sylendra Babu said that the website is to enable the people to know the police better and understand that it is a friendly force for law abiding citizens.
The website would certainly bridge the gap between the police and the public.
The website has been designed to make the functioning of the City Police force transparent.
There is a separate flag for the Commissioner which reads “Commissioner is just a click away”.
Accessing the police commissioner from the office desk and the drawing room of the house is made easy.
City Police Commissioner will no longer be an officer one would dread to speak to or struggle to contact.
The home page has separate flags for emergency, missing persons, wanted criminals and crime alerts.
The home page also gives the phone numbers of help lines; 1091 for Women, 1098 for children, 100 for crime, 103 for traffic, 108 for ambulance, 1253 for senior citizens and 98941-00101 for confidential complaints.
Folders
The flag page that leads to the commissioner has separate folders for complaints, suggestions and appreciations.
The salient feature is that the information sought or information to be passed on could be done in just two or three clicks, says V. Kavitharajan, Chief Executive Officer of Master Mind Solutions who designed the website.
The information or content in the site is not static and is automatically updated.
Receipt
Above all any grievance reported is automatically passed on to the officer concerned to their mail inbox, a receipt is generated and the number displayed on the screen to the person reporting a grievance.
Above all, names, designations and phone numbers of the offices are also displayed.
The website also has a police station locator for the residents to know their jurisdiction police station, officers and their phone numbers.
In addition, the home page has links for verifying passport verification status, citizen's charter, women's helpline, and right to information (RTI).
The website also has a link to the World Classical Tamil Conference. The website has a foreword by the Commissioner detailing the strengths and objectives.
