Activists picket Coimbatore Collectorate

January 11, 2013 09:58 am | Updated 10:01 am IST - COIMBATORE:

Members of the Federation for Protection of All Communities picketed the Collectorate on Thursday demanding action on their complaint against leaders of Caste Eradication Front for reportedly “making derogatory and defamatory remarks” against caste Hindus.

The activists said that the office-bearers of Caste Eradication Front, Adi-Tamilar Peravai and Tamil Puligal, who spoke at a demonstration in Mettupalayam on August 5, reportedly made such remarks against communities falling under ‘caste Hindus’.

They said that they had already preferred a complaint to the Collector, Inspector-General of Police – West Zone and Superintendent of Police – Coimbatore Rural District and pointed out that no action had been taken on it.

At a meeting of the Dalit movements in Tirupur last Monday, similar speech was made and no action had been taken in that connection as well.

Govindasamy, State general secretary of Kongu Velala Goundergal Peravai, said action should be taken against those speakers under the National Security Act.
