Cardiologist J.S. Bhuvaneswaran has given a different prescription and this one is not just for the heart, but for the soul also: music.

Ten songs rendered by him seek to reach deep inside one’s heart as effectively as the imaging capability of a cardiac computed tomography scanner.

Poems of Bharathiar and Bharathidasan that extol Nature and stress the need for humans to live in harmony with it have been made into songs. While Dr. Bhuvaneswaran, the Medical Director of PSG Super Speciality Hospital has sung these, a young musician – Julie Bruce – is the composer.

“These are times of stress. Music brings peace to the mind,” Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore Kendra, B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar noted while presiding over the function in the city on Sunday at which the CD was released by Secretary of PSGR Krishnammal Institutions Nandini Rangaswamy.

Playback singer Anuradha Sriram received the first copy.

“Our lifestyle has changed. There is a need to introspect; to ask whether the current process of development is the ultimate goal of humanity,” Mr. Vanavarayar said.

Lamenting how modern life had taken away peace, he said: “We must see how we can regain the lost rhythm in humans. Music brings peace to the mind”.

Cardio-thoracic surgeon at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital P. Chandrasekar, made a presentation on how Dr. Bhuvaneswaran focussed on developing his talent in music right from school and through his medical education and his career as a cardiologist.

Apart from Ms. Rangaswamy and Ms. Sriram, Director – Human Resources of Roots Industries Kavidasan, Chairman of K.G. Hospital G. Bakthavathsalam, Chief Executive of PSG Institutions C.R. Swaminathan, Chairman of Sri Krishna Sweets M. Krishnan and Arun Madhav offered felicitations.

The function was followed by a light music event featuring both Ms. Sriram and Dr. Bhuvaneswaran.
