Religious fervour marks ‘Nagar Kirtan’

The Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Coimbatore, organised a procession on Sunday to mark the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Coimbatore, organised a procession on Sunday to mark the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The ‘Nagar Kirtan’, which was a procession of the Holy Book, was for about 10 km, starting and ending at the sabha.

Stalls were put up enroute to serve refreshments to the participants.

The procession included performances by Punjabi Gatka Martial Arts crew, band performance by Fouji Band from Punjab, etc.

The programme included participation by various religious heads.

Guru Granth Sahib

On January 3, continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib will start and it will conclude on January 5. About 700 people are expected to take part including invitees from other States, said vice president of the sabha Gurpreet Singh.

“We are blessed to celebrate the 350th birth anniversary,” he said.

Mr. Gurpreet Singh pointed out that a national-level committee had been formed for the 350th birth anniversary celebrations and that the Government had earmarked funds for the celebrations.
