As many as 8,077 candidates in Coimbatore revenue district took Paper I of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) – 2013, which was conducted across the State on Saturday. A total of 8,258 persons had enrolled for Paper I.
A total of 10,949 candidates have enrolled to take Paper II, which would be held on Sunday. Chief Educational Officer A. Gnanagowri said that 18 examination venues have been chosen to host the TET in Coimbatore.
C.A. Shanmugavadivoo, District Educational Officer for Pollachi who was holding additional charge of Coimbatore Educational district, said that 2,223 candidates took the test at Pollachi and 5,854 at Coimbatore.
There were 38 absentees at Pollachi and 143 at Coimbatore.
Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) was the nodal agency for conducting the TET in Tamil Nadu.
The Paper I was for Secondary Grade teachers who teach primary class students. Paper-II was for Graduate Assistants who were eligible to teach students from Class VI to Class VIII. Both the papers will comprise 150 multiple choice questions and the candidates have to secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks to pass the test.
