As many as 28 persons from the minority community were removed by the police when they attempted a demonstration in front of the office of Dinakaran, a Tamil newspaper, on Tuesday.

The demonstrators objected to a write-up and caricature relating to their faith that appeared in a weekly magazine published by the newspaper group.

District Collector P. Umanath has announced that a meeting to generate awareness among the members of the minority community on the entrepreneurship loans would be conducted at the Mettuppalayam taluk office on March 24 at 11 a.m.

The objective of the meeting was to enlighten the minority community members on the various kinds of loans, self-help groups, computer training so as to enhance their economic and living conditions.
