CBI arrests Service Tax official

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent of Service Tax Commissionerate in the Capital for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs.1.50 lakh for not raising a demand for service tax from a tour and travel firm.

The accused has been identified as Anil Aggarwal. “We received a complaint from the owner of the tour and travel firm alleging that Mr. Aggarwal had asked for a bribe for not raising a service tax liability demand. Based on the complaint, the agency laid a trap and arrested the accused when he was receiving the bribe amount,” said a CBI official.
