After getting assurance from Communications and Information Technology Minister A. Raja of early redressal of their grievances, striking engineers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) on Saturday called off their agitation. Over 10,000 engineers had gone on indefinite strike on August 18, demanding absorption of all the Department of Telecom officials, who are working on deputation in the BSNL, in the State-run telecom major.

The All-India Graduate Telecom Officers Association of Engineers President Siloh Rao met Mr. Raja on Friday and apprised him of their demands. The Minister has reportedly assured the BSNL engineers to look into their demands and resolve the matter amicably. A meeting with the BSNL management to resolve the issue will be held shortly
