The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) presents Aadi Chitra, an exhibition of tribal art. The paintings put up for sale comprise works of about 40 tribal artists, belonging to the tribes of Gond, Bhil (both central India), Rathwa (Gujarat), Saura (Orissa) and Warli (Maharashtra). The themes will range from the religious, secular, gods and goddesses to animals, birds, lifecycles, farming, harvest, celebration and the elements. The exhibition is on till October 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lalit Kala Akademi, Greams Road. For details, call 2829-1692.

Adding to the fun and celebration this festive season, The Hindu organises Dandiya Nite, presented by Cardia Life. It promises to be an evening of dance with special performances by Supersingers Santosh, Pooja and Malavika. So bring out those dandiya sticks, swirling skirts and gear up for a long evening. The Hindu ’s much-awaited Kolu Kondattam is back. Presented by Viveks, the contest this year has become bigger and better, extending across the city. A panel of judges will visit each area, and though each kolu will be judged based on the decoration, the way guests are received and customs followed will fetch extra points. In each area, a winner and two runners-up will be selected. The Grand Champion will be chosen from across the city.
