Karthi’s fans have a reason to rejoice — the actor’s next film, Alex Pandian, is to all set hit the screens. Says producer Gnanavel Raja, who frequently visits Chennai since he relocated to Hyderabad: “The film is set for release on October 12. A commercial flick, we hope it will meet the expectations of fans.”

Directed by Suraj, the film stars Anushka Shetty as the female lead. The music is by Devi Sri Prasad. Karthi’s bond with Santhanam continues as the comedian plays an important role in this film too.

Creating a record

The film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom has created a record of sorts by featuring a song, the lines of which were selected from phrases sent in by more than 1,800 people through a social networking site.

“We conducted a one-liner contest on Facebook on our fan page and got more than 3,000 entries. We had to shortlist eight one-liners to be used in the song; it was a difficult task. Those who sent in the shortlisted entries were given goodies as prizes,” says Ved Shankar, music director of NKPK . Ved happens to be the first student (roll number 001) of A. R. Rahman’s music school, K. M. Conservatory. “The reason for such a contest was to create awareness among the masses about the film. Besides, the song, for which the lines were to be penned, was intended to be simple. The lines chosen were in accordance with the film’s theme and the mood of the song. For instance, one of the lines goes… Phonea pota balancea kaanom, Naduvula konjum Pakkatha Kanom.”

Talking about his other projects, Ved says, “Apart from Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom , I have Madhubana Kadai , and hope to get more projects.”
