Sing along

Canadian R&B singer Raghav Mathur is making his singing debut in Bollywood with the upcoming film “Hum Tum Aur Shabana”. The ‘Angel Eyes' singer whom you ‘Can't Get Enough' of, will be crooning the title track of the film ‘Hey Na Shabana' — a fusion of Western and Indian vocals. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the track is being touted as a stellar hit!

Will they, won't they?

Will Saifeena bite the marriage bait? There are rumours that next February will be ‘the' engagement, and by the middle of next year, Bebo will be missus. There are reports of Delhi designer Ritu Kumar calling in Kareena for trial fittings for her outfit! Both actors, however, are going the denial route.

Dead wood

One rumour that caused a flurry in tinseltown recently was news of Sanjay Dutt being replaced by Aamir Khan in the “Munnabhai” series. But, this one died earlier than we could blink our eyes. Aamir Khan went on record that he would pass on Sanjay's number to the filmmakers if they approached him for his role. Vidhu Vinod Chopra's office too denied it. Apparently, Aamir is not free to take up any project for the next two years.

A different start

A lot is being said about Katrina Kaif and Pak singer-actor Ali Zafar's friendship on the sets of “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”. Ali is even said to have even given her guitar lessons. But the interesting bit is how this friendship started. It was not at a party where Ali failed to recognise Kat, as has been widely reported, but on the film's sets itself! Apparently, the “Sholay” scene was being recreated with Kat playing Veeru (Dharmendra) and calling Ali ‘mausi' and Imran Basanti. Wearing this short dress, and with a liquor bottle in one hand atop a car, Kat had bellowed out the dialogues. After the scene was shot, Ali is believed to have walked up to her and said: “You are a little mad. You know that, right?” Kat, of course, took no offence, and laughed out hysterically — signalling the beginning of a fabulous friendship!

Second choice

Talking about Veeru (Dharmendra), the first look of his second ‘Deol family' film this year “Tell Me O Khuda” was revealed recently. The film is the comeback vehicle for Esha Deol, and papa is more than happy to star in it alongside her mom Hema Malini. But, this story about a girl tracing her roots, which also features Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor, was offered to Amitabh Bachchan first! Hema's actor-husband stepped in only after things didn't work out with the Big B. The Hema-Amitabh chemistry worked wonderfully on-screen in “Baghban”, “Babul” and “Veer-Zarra”.

Facing the camera

Veteran director Ramesh Sippy has found a role to act! The director of “Sholay” has reportedly given his nod to the Hindi remake of Gautham Vasudev Menon's “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya”, which will see him essay the role of a director. The film has apparently signed on Prateik and newcomer Amy Jackson for the lead roles.
