It seems that Harry crow, Poggy cat, Murmoo earthworm, Paupu mushroom and Thoothan frog have a thing or two teach us about cleanliness and hygiene. These soldiers of the Green Army are gearing up to reach out to schools in Ernakulam to fight a battle for cleanliness.

Lessons to learn

Eram Scientific Solutions with Toonz Academy has created these cartoon characters to make students aware of cleanliness and hygiene. These cartoon images along with hygiene messages will soon appear on Delight-school model e-toilets in various schools in Ernakulam district. The group of cartoon characters named Green Army consists of the animals and birds that keep the surroundings clean through their innate activities.

Animals and birds can teach the humans a lot about cleanliness. The soldiers of Green Army tell you what they can do. Crow, the sweeper of nature, keeps the surroundings clean by eating up the organic wastes. Earthworm, known as the plough of farmers, ploughs the soil and keeps it fertile, frog eats up the insects, mushroom absorbs all the organic waste dissolving them in soil and the cat buries its excreta. These soldiers will reach out to various schools along with two more characters Shuchi and Joy, to teach the students about the necessity of keeping the place tidy.

The characters were selected based on a competition conducted among the students of Toonz Academy. Under the theme of cleanliness, various animals will spring into action to create an interest in the young minds to make them aware of the good habits for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.

The army made their first visit at the South GGHSS in Ernakulam. Manohar Varghese, Director of Eram Scientific Solutions, in a press release said that as a part of the Sustainable Comprehensive Hygiene Initiative (SUCHI) @school project, the characters are already pasted on the wall of school model e-toilets installed in this school. The project aims to ensure adequate sanitation facilities in all government and government-aided schools in Ernakulam district.

e-toilets

The e-toilets are designed with automatic doors and facilities for installing electronic napkin disposal system with electrical insulators and septic tank. Provisions are also made for automatic flush and access control, power-washing mechanisms.

Other facilities that are available for an e-toilet such as SMS alert to the control room for emergencies and 24 hours customer service are also made available in the school model.
