Are you bored of the routine fare at home? Does ‘nati koli sukka', ‘anjal' fish or pomfret stimulate your taste buds?

Then tread a path to The Narayan Suggi on New BEL Road where Malnad seafood items await your picking. The ‘Suggi' is named after a harvest festival of the same name celebrated in the rural pockets of the State.

According to proprietor Narayan, the food is homely and fresh of the stove. Varieties of non-vegetarian food that are available here include, chicken sukka, chicken curry, chicken ghee roast, ‘nati koli sukka', ‘anjal' fish, pomfret, among others. “Malnad people love rice in all forms — red grain rice, ‘sannas', rice rottis and ‘kori rotti' (a dry, crisp, almost wafer-thin rotti, served with chicken curry). ‘Patrode', a special dish prepared by steaming stuffed colocasia leaves, is a delicacy, he insists.

The hotel serves non-vegetarian and vegetarian buffets costing Rs. 260 and Rs. 210 per plate, respectively. According to Vaishali, a regular customer, the Mangalore chicken curry is exquisite. The chicken roast and Pomfret are equally delicious, she adds. “I often visit this restaurant; the food here is simple and tasty, and reasonably priced.”

The interiors are spacious and the staff, attending to you with utmost courtesy, are dressed in conventional Malnad gear. The Narayan Suggi has branches at J.P. Nagar II Phase and Basaveshwarnagar.

The restaurant is open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Call: 080- 42083291.
