Warriors even series with Thunder

There was an incident in the first quarter when MVP Stephen Curry dived into the stands, hurting his elbow. If the Oklahoma City Thunder thought that was to work in their favour, they were woefully wrong.

Curry stepped up his game, produced a third-quarter blitz and notched up 28 points in all as the Golden State Warriors romped home 118-91 to even the Western Conference finals at 1-1.

Strauss believes Super Series is good for the game

Starting with this series between England and Sri Lanka, a new multi-format series is in place awarding points for wins, draws and ties across Tests, ODIs and T20s.

England and Wales Cricket Board director Andrew Strauss believes this will give context to such bilateral series as there is something to play for in every game.

Pollard back in Windies squad

Kieron Pollard has been named in West Indies’ 14-man squad for next month’s tri-series against Australia and South Africa.

Notable absentees in the squad include Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy, members of the victorious WT20 side.

RCB remain in contention

Virat Kohli struck his fourth century in this IPL as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a mammoth 211/3 in 15 overs in a rain-affected game. Kings XI Punjab crawled their way to 120 for 9 in 14 overs, before rain stopped play again, handing the match to RCB according to the Duckworth Lewis method.

DD face SRH in crucial encounter

Delhi Daredevils have let slip a position of strength and are now staring at a do-or-die match against table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad. While SRH will be missing strike bowler Ashish Nehra, ruled out for the rest of the IPL, they still remain the side to beat in this edition of the IPL.

Sevilla make it three in a row in Europa League

Sevilla completed an unprecedented hat trick as they became the first team to win the Europa League three times in succession.

Daniel Sturridge gave Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool a 35th minute lead, but a poor display in the second half pushed them to a disappointing defeat.

After Kevin Gameiro equalised seconds into the second half, Coke struck twice in six minutes to hand Sevilla a 3-1 victory.

Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri clocked 14mins 34.04 secs in the 1500m freestyle event, the second fastest on the all-time list, to claim gold at the European Championships.

Novak Djokovic, who turns 29 this Sunday, will set out once again for the French Open, the only Grand Slam that he hasn’t won yet.
