AVP students hit target

Tirupur: The 6th Valvil Oori archery competition was held in Kolli Hills and the students of AVP Trust Public School participated and won several prizes. A silver medal and two bronzes were won by them. The medals were awarded by Namakkal district collector Dakshinamoorthy and district sports officers Periyakaruppan.

Student leaders take charge at Alpha GK

Kotagiri: The investiture ceremony was held at the Alpha GK School. The correspondent Sadasivam and Indra Sadasivam attended the programme.

The oath taking took place, and R.Rinesh of Class IX was chosen as the School Pupil Leader and M.Darshan of Class IX was chosen as the Assistant School Pupil Leader for the academic year.

Ashram Matric hosts south zone table tennis tourney 

Coimbatore: The South Zonal Meet table tennis matches were held at Ashram Matric Hr Sec School, Kovaipudur. Several schools took part in the event. The matches were held for the Under-14, 17 and 19 categories.

The winners were congratulated by the school chairman and correspondent.

Sporting talent on display at Chavara Vidya Bhavan

Coimbatore: The annual sports meet of Chavara Vidya Bhavan Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Somayampalayam, was inaugurated by Stanly P. Mathew, Coimbatore District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer. The Guest of Honour was the Provincial of Preshitha Province, Rev. Fr. Winson Moyalan.

The students showcased their skills by performing drills, asanas, karate, silambam, and martial arts. Prizes were given to the winners of the different athletic events.

Rev. Fr Jacob Chungath, the principal, declared the sports meet closed in the evening.

 Math made fun at Devi Academy

Chennai: A fun filled mathematics workshop was conducted at Devi Academy Senior Secondary School sponsored by Orient BlackSwan. Various city school teachers handling primary and middle classes participated in the workshop. The principal of the host school, Malathy Sreenivasan welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person Saroja Sundararajan. She organised various activities like tic–tac–toe game using vedic maths, Zig – Zag puzzles using linear equations etc, and explained how math could be made interactive.

 Lisieux inaugurates Fine Arts Club

Coimbatore: The Fine Arts Club of Lisieux Mat Hr Sec School, Saibaba Colony for the year 2014 - 2015 was inaugurated by the Principal Rev Fr Phlips Pontheckan. Dancer Lavanya Shankar was the chief guest. In her address, she encouraged the student to pursue arts, alongside academics. There were instrumental and vocal music performances by the students.

 Karuna club activities held at Maharishi International

Chennai: The Maharishi International Residential School conducted Karuna Club interschool competitions. Over 200 students from eight schools participated in various events like poster making, skit, group song, group dance & story telling. Ramesh Kumar, President of Karuna Kancheepuram Kendra was the chief guest of the program. The events started after the introduction of the chief guest.

At the end of all the competitions prizes were distributed to the winners of first three positions by Ramesh Kumar, President Kancheepuram Kendra, Karuna International & Jeeva, Lion’s Pride.
