“I’m into style and glamour and I’m particularly concerned about my body," said Alisha Abdullah, Indian bike and car racer.
Speaking at the launch of Shakshii Wellness, a new spa & salon in the city, Alisha, who had just flown in from Delhi, said was looking forward to unwinding at the salon: “I’m going to come in for a spa and face treatment this weekend,” said the racer, who was approached to be the brand ambassador of the new studio because she was a fresh face with a local flavour.
"We’re new, so we wanted someone new to endorse us,” said Shivaji Kuna, managing partner of Shakshii Wellness.
“We use new-age technology like multi-polar radio frequency, ultra sound and cavitation,” he said.
Alisha has invested in her public image ever since she realised that people recognise her wherever she goes. “Now I really need to take care of how I look,” says the racer, who has signed on a couple of movie deals.
Alisha, who says she doesn’t want to be the damsel in distress or run around trees in her movie projects, is playing a guest role as a bike racer in the upcoming Tamil film Irumbu Kuthirai .
The movie following that will be a psycho-thriller which won’t have any songs.
“I’ve always done things differently, so I really want to be part of something new and different,” says Alisha.
India’s first female racing champion, having bagged her first endorsement, says she’s looking forward to more.
“Whether I’m doing movies or endorsing a brand, I want to showcase who I am. My sport is hardly recognised in India and I want my endorsements to make people notice my sport,” says Alisha, who asserts her identity as a racer even with new projects in the pipeline.
