‘If you suspect that your husband/boyfriend is seeing another girl, take him to her door and see if the wifi connects automatically,’ goes an old forward joke. But now, the best way to track anybody’s movement, for any reason, is to gift him/her an iPhone and insist on turning its location services on. The feature on the iPhone tracks one’s frequent locations on a map and logs the times he/she arrived and departed from that place. It even plots the frequency with which the iPhone owner/user visits that location. Not just the location, it clocks in the duration of the visited/frequented locations as well.
Of course, the information is restricted to the phone and is used for personalised services like traffic routing etc. However, this mapping and routing is possible only when location services are enabled from one’s privacy settings.
Once the settings are in place, all one has to do is tap on the map and see the accurate location and time clocked in the map. It gives the game away.
There is always a solution to prevent this invasion of privacy. Turn the locations services off or delete its history.
