Look out for some Bollywood-style singing and dancing in the television show, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premiering tonight. The show opens in 2005 where Rebecca Bunch is chatting with her summer camp fling Josh Chan. Her obsessive, drama queen behaviour puts off Josh who promptly dumps her.

Fast forward 10 years, and Rebecca is now a successful lawyer in New York. When she is offered partner at her firm, instead of being happy, Rebecca feels her life is missing something.

An ad for a bread spread and a chance meeting with Josh, prompts Rebecca to give it all up and move to West Covina, in California to have another chance at life and getting together with Josh. Rebecca’s impressive credentials ensure she easily gets a job at the local law firm. While her boss, Darryl is star-struck, the head paralegal, Paula, is suspicious of Rebecca.

There is also Greg who works at the sports bar but he would rather be somewhere else. Created by comedienne-musician Rachel Bloom who also plays Rebecca, the show is carried along by Bloom’s effervescence. The songs are fun and rich and provide a fun diversion from the rather regressive concept. Others in the cast include Santino Fontana as Greg; Donna Lynne Champlin as Paula; Vincent Rodriguez III as Josh and Pete Gardner as Darryl.

From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is also executive produced by Bloom, with Aline Brosh McKenna ( The Devil Wears Prada ), Marc Webb ( 500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man films), and Erin Ehrlich ( Awkward ).

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. from November 19 on Star World Premiere HD
