Looks can be deceptive. For Hire, a short film directed by actor Vishnu Raghav, narrates how some people live by hook or crook, leaving us to wonder whether we can trust anyone at all.

The story unfolds over two nights and narrates the tale of four people whose lives get intertwined. The short film is the debut directorial venture of Vishnu, who has acted in the movies Orkut Oru Ormakoot and Theevram . Vishnu, son of still photographer R. Gopalakrishnan, has joined hands with yet another young actor, Anu Mohan, brother of actor Vinu Mohan, for the film.

The duo has scripted and produced the film under the banner Yellow Cover Productions. They also play key roles in the movie. “We acted together in Orkut… and Theevram and we bonded big time. That set us thinking about the movie,” says Vishnu, an engineering graduate, who recently gave up his job to pursue acting. He has also acted in the forthcoming movie Pakida . Meanwhile, Anu plays the lead in Haider Ali’s Pianist .

The other two main characters are played by actors Krishnan Balakrishnan and Kavitha Nair.

The 17-minute short, shot in and around the city, has been inspired by real-life incidents. “The story, written by Jyothish Jayapalan, is based on some incidents that happened in the city,” says Vishnu.

Roby Abraham, who scored music for Friday and Theevram , is the music composer. Camera is by Prijith S.B., who worked in Namukku Parkkan . Editor is Appu Bhattathiri and C.R. Chandran is the sound designer. The movie will be released on YouTube today.
