In one of the worst cases of misuse of technology to spread fear and panic, the camera focuses on tribal women from Mizoram along with their infants arriving by a special train from Bangalore at the Guwahati railway station.

A mass exodus saw some 20,000 people living in South India, flee back home, despite the state governments’ assurances of safety for the citizens. Rumours of targeted violence were spread through text messages and social media.

Though the government has banned bulk mobile messaging for 15 days to stem the tide and reports are coming in of the mass departures being arrested, this experience has left a scar on the conscience of the nation.
