Job Kurian is on a musical high these days. The singer, who went beyond the label of a reality show star, has turned composer. And what a way to debut! He is composing for a Mohanlal-Indrajith starrer, Rasam , directed by Rajeevnath. The songs have been penned by theatre doyen Kavalam Narayana Panikker and among the singers are K.S. Chithra and Kavalam Sreekumar.
“Yes…it is a great experience working with all these people in my first project. There are three songs and the work is almost done,” says an excited Job. He had brought out a music album Thalam a few years ago and has also sung his own compositions for the music programme Music Mojo on Kappa TV. “They have been joint ventures and this is my first independent project,” he says.
Job, who was the runner-up of the first season of the music reality show Super Star on Amrita TV, is thrilled to have found a place in the music industry. “I am happy that I am gradually evolving into a musician. Definitely, the reality show has helped me a lot. But from the beginning I had told myself that it was never the ultimate. Music has always been a passion for me and I wanted to do something on my own. Also, luckily, I got good songs and that too from those composers who know my genre of songs,” says Job, who got a break with the song ‘Aarane…’ from Urumi . He then followed it up with songs in 22 Female Kottayam, Red Wine, Idukki Gold and Thira .
