Technopark has a vibrant music scene with music clubs, bands and music classes. Come this Sunday, ‘Nilamazha’, a programme at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan at 5 p.m., will see a bunch of them take to the stage to croon some golden melodies. Singers are Biju Neelakantan (Acolade), Sruthi Sagar (IBS), Gireesh Gopinath (Brillio), Sreehari Narayanan (Infosys) and Ramakrishnan Raman (Ernst & Young). They are joined by Deepa Joy, a techie-turned teacher, Renjini Sanjay, a teacher with Lecole Champaka. and Reshma.

“All of us are passionate about music and we met at Sruthilaya, a music club in the city. We have a monthly get-together and we conduct programmes at temple festivals and programmes organised by residents associations. We wanted to reach out to more people and that’s how we conceptualised ‘Nilamazha’,” says Sreehari.

They will be belting out present popular Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi songs to the accompaniment of an eight-piece orchestra. “The best thing about the group is that we all are trained in music,” says Biju. They have sung in movies or music albums and some are active in ganamela circuit.

“These days music bands come up with improvised or unplugged versions of songs. But we will sing the original version,” says Sreehari. And in the playlist are evergreen songs such as ‘Akale, akale’, ‘Ilayanila’, ‘Innenikku pottu kuthan’, ‘Nee madhu pakaroo’, ‘Ponveene’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Mere dholna’ and ‘Kannodu kaanpathellam’, among others. The event is hosted by ‘Paatupetti’ fame Suresh Kumar.
