Bakers of Bengaluru are coming out in support of stray dogs of the city.
At an event titled the “Republic of Dogs Bake Sale”, volunteer home bakers are baking up a storm of cupcakes, brownies, tarts, cookies, and chocolates. Proceeds of the sales go towards the rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation of stray dogs of Bengaluru via The Voice of Stray Dogs (VoSD). It’s a privately run dog rescue service for stray dogs – and completely free.
VoSD has a trauma centre, a single toll free number, a unique CRM-based tracking and despatch system, four dedicated rescue vehicles, and provides modern vet services including MRIs, X-rays, diagnostics, sophisticated surgery and rehabilitation to the dog on the street. VoSD has rescued more than 4,000 ill and injured street dogs. The VoSD Sanctuary (for old, blind, lame, unfit and abandoned dogs) has more than 450 permanent residents currently. The Republic of Dogs Bake Sale is on January 24 and 25 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Rangoli Centre near the M.G. Road Metro Station.
