After an extraordinary three-week run at the Chinese box-office, the sixth instalment of Jackie Chan’s Police Story (3D) will release on February 14 in over 180 screens in Tamil Nadu in two languages — English and Tamil. This is also his first film to release in 3D.
“Jackie Chan has a huge following in Tamil Nadu, and Police Story releases in India even before it releases in the U.S. The film has collected close to Rs. 400 crore in China,” says Mohan of Surabhi Films, which has bought the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of the film.
A common goal
Sasi Kumar’s all set to play the aam aadmi in his next release Bramman . “Without even being aware of our actions, we, the ordinary people, effect a certain change in society, which helps it evolve. Bramman tells the story of a commoner’s aspirations and goals,” says director Socrates.
Despite having worked with Kamal Haasan and Mouli, it has taken a while for Socrates to do a film on his own. “It was difficult to get some face time with Sasi Kumar for he is known to listen to scripts from only those close to him. I was insistent on signing him for this film because he brings a certain authenticity to the role.” Devi Sri Prasad has composed music for this film.
In control
Contrary to speculation, the Simbhu-Nayanthara flick, directed by Pandiraj, is proceeding without any hiccups. “They both have been so professional on the sets and are working without any baggage from their past,” says the film’s cinematographer Balasuramaniem. Pandiraj is being credited for the smooth proceedings. “He knows how to speak to the artistes and get the work done,” says the cinematographer.
