Jayasurya turned producer with the upcoming Ranjith Sankar-flick Punyalan Agarbathis . Now, the actor has added another feather to his cap by turning playback singer for the film, in which he himself stars in the lead as a Thrissur-based entrepreneur, Joy Thakkolkkaran, who makes incense sticks from elephant dung and retails it under the brand, ‘Punyalan Agarbathis’. Jayasurya has crooned the playful number ‘Aashichavan…’, with music direction by Bijibal. “Truth be told, I had more faith in Bijibal than I had in myself as a singer! I have never studied music and told Biji as much when he asked me if I could sing the number. His only reply was: ‘Good!’ I had earlier sung for a couple of stage shows but nothing on this scale. It was a great experience. I really enjoyed it,” says the actor, who adds that he is thrilled by the response. “And I think that it has worked out well. My children, especially my daughter, Veda, who was until a couple of days ago dancing to ‘Johnny Mone Jonny…,’ is now singing along to ‘Aashichavan’. Now, I am the one jumping up and down with excitement!” Punyalan Agarbathis is set to release on November 29. Meanwhile, we’re thinking what’s next for the actor? Direction?
