It has been half a decade since Zee Rishtey Awards were instituted. ‘Rishtey’, as we know, stands for relationships. It seems like, true to the name, the awards have been able to forge a relationship with the fans of various shows on Zee TV.
The latest edition in Mumbai saw many leading stars from the television world and also from cinema gracing the occasion.
Among them were the likes of Anil Kapoor, Mithun Chakaraborty, Vivek Oberoi, Sonali Bendre, Ahmad Khan, Shilpa Shirodkar, etc. Anil Kapoor also took the opportunity to promote his upcoming film Mahabharat .
Earlier in the month, Zee TV’s popular actors Ritwik Dhanjani, Aasha Negi, Arhaan Behl, Mansi Shrivastav, Ankit Gera among others went to various cities to meet “to show their gratitude.” They made vote appeals to the viewers for their favourite jodis, actors, actresses, shows, etc...
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Ranga, CCCO of ZEEL, said, “This year, we have tried to showcase the brand philosophy of our network, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, through Zee Rishtey Awards. Zee has had a glorious 21-year-old relationship with its viewers. This is a platform that recognises the invaluable contribution of the artistes that has driven the channel from success to success.
This time through some spectacular acts, we have tried to connect with Zee audiences residing all across the globe.”
In a departure from tradition, Sab TV’s hugely popular show Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma was also fêted. It bagged the Zee Rishton Ki Parakh Award.
The function was marked by an impressive array of performances — Rajat Tokas, as Akbar, made a king size entry on an elephant and a cavalry and romanced Jodha on stage. Zee heroines Ankita Lokhande, Neha Marda and Mahima Makwana enthralled the viewers through a dazzling all-girls act. Zee heroes Eijaz Khan, Karan V Grover and Chetan Hansraj impersonated the Boss (Akshay Kumar), Besharam (Ranbir Kapoor) and Thalaiva (Rajnikant) on stage.
The Qubool Hai sisters Nikhat (Archana Taide), Nuzhat (Farhina Parvez) and Najma (Nehalaxmi Iyer) and the contestants of India’s Best Dramebaaz put up a family act.
The Qubool Hai jodi, Asad and Zoya (Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti), presented a romantic number reinforcing the fact that their onscreen chemistry was one of the best. Mithun Chakaraborty reminded the audience of his dancing days when he shook his legs to the number he is most remembered for, I am A Disco Dancer .
The show was hosted by Jay Bhanushali and Ritwik Dhanjani.
Awards were given to the Jodha and Akbar for Favourite Nayi Jodi, Ek Muthi Aasman for Zee Best Story, Gunjan/Rachna from Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke for Favourite Behen, Asad/Ayaan from Qubool Hai for Favourite Bhai and Tanveer from Qubool Hai for Favourite Khalnayak. Zee TV’s popular show Pavitra Rishta was also awarded for completing 1000 episodes.
