After the onset of recession and a marked slump in employment opportunities for quite some time, UTV Bindass now decides to play with the idea of naukri with its new fiction show Meri Toh Lag Gayi…Naukri! The show, set in urban India, is the story of five youngsters who start as interns in a media company and, thus, join the rat race to get employed. It has individual stories of hope, love and drama underlying. It is only shortly after joining that these interns realise the hardships of trade. Playing the role of bosses to the five youngsters are Rajesh Khera as Raghav Shetty, Shweta Dadheech as Anahita Roy and Ashwin Kaushal as Harry Sadu.

“There is a lot of comedy going on in this office, wherein all three bosses are different in outlook and behaviour. Targeting the youth, we have tried to showcase the daily lives of young people in general. There are light conversations, stresses of work life, use of slangs…, which is exactly how most of us communicate,” says Rajesh Khera, better known as Major Bhargav from Left Right Left . With a blend of comedy and drama, the show presents unique genres of ‘Dramady' and ‘Mockumentary', which is a spoof on a documentary. “It is realistic and has emotions with all the masala so that it connects with the youth instantly,” say producers Deeya and Toni Singh.

On where the idea originated, Abhishek Ohri, who plays the role of Cherry Randhawa, replies, “A relation of a boss and an employee is something that each of us has. Of course, there are a lot of unsaid words from the employee and a lot more said by the boss, which makes this relation that of discord yet very interesting and essential in our daily lives. So, in Meri Toh Lag Gayi… Naukri! we have put in all those flavours and a lot more.”

Sharing a light moment on the sets, the interns dressed in all-white, played Holi with their bosses. Recalling their experiences on the sets, they all said in unison, “It was fun. We all just kept running away from work.”

However, “strict boss” Raghav Shetty, very much in character, made his point clear. “I am not going to compromise on work. I want work and I want it now. So, watch out.” The show will be aired on UTV Bindass from March 28 at 7 p.m.
