The second season of Madras Bridal Fashion Show, presented by Trans Cars, starts today, a welcome sign for brides-to-be for the upcoming wedding season. A “fashion extravaganza” that promises to bring together an array of designers to “promote multicultural art in high fashion”, the show is set to celebrate all things bridal.
This season’s MBFS features award-winning designers from across the country, like Anjallee & Arjun Kapoor, Rehana Basheer, Shravan Kummar, Noushija, Sumona, Rinku Sobti and Sidney Sladen.
Anjalee & Arjun Kapoor will be showcasing their collection ‘Persian Flora’, which is inspired from the stunning Persian architecture blended with floral placement. From rich jewel colours to soft pastels, each colour palette has been treated differently.
Sumona Parekh’s couture will display all her Bouquet Bridal themed collections. Nature and fashion come together here and flowers of the spring gave her a bouquet of inspiration.
Noushija Ma of Fatiz Garments & Events will be showcasing a collection called ‘Mughal Romance’, which is the fictionalised version of Mughal history, where we can see the best true love stories of India. Rehana Basheer’s collection ‘Pakeezah’, will showcase her innovative cuts and silhouettes with the combination of original stones.
Handloom sees a revival with two designers choosing to go with traditional weaves. Rinku Sobti’s collection ‘Essenza’ is an attempt to revive the dying art of handlooms, along with the weavers of the Barjardiya cluster of Varanasi, while Shravan Kummar’s ‘An Ode To Weaves And Weavers’ has tailored jackets and cocktail gowns made in Chanderi silk and woven Banarasi brocade.
The event will be held at Le Royal Meridien on August 12 and 13, Friday and Saturday, from 7.30 p.m. onwards.
