Rajaraja Chola sits in his chariot looking at the temple being constructed. Many workers are toiling hard to build a temple which their king wants. The heat certainly does not deter their dreams of churning out the best. As the King's loyal subjects they do not want to disappoint him and soon their hard work pays. A beautiful temple is built in 1010 A.D.; exactly a thousand years ago in Thanjavur. The Brihadeeswarar Temple, now referred to as the Big Temple, celebrated its millennial anniversary.
Competitions
‘Celebrating Thanjavur' was the theme for the competitions. Vasudevan, a student of Loyola college and a visualiser with an ad agency, Bepositive 24 took part and won the state-wide competition.
“In any competition I just have one aim…I have to win this”. I knew that with thousands of skilled painters competing my chance to win would lie in the concept. I brainstormed and then came up with the idea to infuse the temple' s 1000 year milestone into a 1000 rupee currency signifying the celebration and wealth of the temple. He also admits that the other entries were definitely better in terms of strokes and finesse but concept-wise he knew he could crack it. And his concept did get noticed…
A visual communications student Vasudevan is currently working with a reputed ad agency in Chennai and pursuing his MBA. “The victory took me back a decade when I had won The HinduYoung World painting competition held in the year 2000…he fondly recalls.
An art student he never gave up his passion. After completing his education he started work with DQ Entertainment, a special effects agency in Hyderabad only to realise that his creative calling was something more visual. His later employers included Brand Portrait and DNZ but he still felt his creativity was not being used to his potential. His latest shift brought him to Be Positive 24 where his visualising skills have been put into good use. Armed with technical knowledge his creative energy helps him perform as he aims to become one of the leading visualisers in the country.
