With all the retail stores coming indirectly through foreign direct investment, and FDI determining the nature of politics and world economy, let us ponder over some of the issues we as teenagers face in the advent of FDI in our daily lives…
Imagine you have been sent to a nearby shop to buy a small list of groceries. There are two stores — one is a small kiosk ( potti kadai to be precise) and a super market. Your choice would be the supermarket. You take a trolley and go straight to the cosmetics section, to the confectionary and then to the crisps section.
You ultimately forget what your mother wanted. When you get a call from your mother who is concerned by now, you finally come to your senses. Your money vanishes in the billing counter in a matter of seconds and you have got a debt of Rs. 100. You can’t have credits in a supermarket. As the man next to you at the counter stares at you, you keep the confectionary back.
Had you entered the kiosk you would have returned home quickly. All these retail stores generate an infectious disease that I call squandermania, and many of you many suffer from this era.
