Movie: Kahaani
Cast: Vidya Balan, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Nawazuddin SiddiquiSujoy Ghosh's suspense thriller proves that Vidya Balan, the national award winner, needs no Khans or Kapoors to make her films a blockbuster.
Plot
The movie starts with a prologue of a metro rail accident. Then, London-based Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan), a Tamilian with excellent computer skills, arrives in search of her husband Arnab Bagchi.
She is accompanied by Parambrata Chatterjee who helps her in the mission. In her search, she finds lots of higher officials lying about her husband's whereabouts. Every person who gives her a clue or any key person in the case dies mysteriously after she encounters them.
How does she find her husband? Or is she searching for her husband? Is she being tricked by the kahaani? Or is she telling a kahaani?
I bet you can't find the answer to these questions till the last 10 minutes. Every scene is packed with unexpected twists and turns. The climax is what you least expect and yet the most ballistic part of the movie.
Performance
Full marks to Vidya Balan. She is as convincing as Vidya Bagchi as she was as the seducing Silk in “The Dirty Picture.” Her sudden shift in emotions is a bit annoying, yet she moves you to tears with her performance. Another national award next year?
A thorough entertainer, the movie that compels you to have a vivid and keen look at every single detail from a hotel boy's shirt pocket to hacking a person's computer.
The Durga Pooja is captured magnificently. Kolkata is depicted with such passion and love that the cinematography speaks for itself.
Bottomline: Worth every rupee paid to watch the movie. Not to be missed.

Brilliant performance by Vidya Balan. If she won an national award for
The Dirty Picture ,She should surely win one for this too.And as to
her sudden change in emotions,She portrays a pregnant female and it
felt natural to me at that point. But the problem i had with the movie
is ,Vidya's character was shown to be smarter than entire IB put
together and that was a bit unreasonable. But definitely worth a
watch.
It is high time shri Madhur Bhandarkar think of replacing Karina Kapoor with Vidya Balan in his forthcoming film HEROINE.
Vidya Balan isn't the only actor in the movie. Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Saswata Chattopadhyay, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Dhritiman and all the other supporting cast are Amazing actors. N Parambrata is the lead actor in the film along with Vidya Balan. Why isn't his performance mentioned here? Just coz he isn't a mainstream Bollywood actor? It's Parambrata and Saswata's Bollywood debut and Parambrata specially has an important role in the film. Why are they so conveniently ignored?
Well..apart from this, it's a great movie. Wonderful direction, amazing story and the best part is that we are left in the dark till the very end! And fabulous performances by Vidya, Parambrata and Saswata. All three were Amazing. Vidya deserves all the best actor awards next time for 'kahaani' and Parambrata deserves all the best supprting actor awards (along with one for debut..which Saswata too deserves..) at the next award ceremonies. Certainly not a film to be missed!
Kudos to Vidya for yet another brilliant performance...I thought of watching the movie within 15-20mins the way i watch others, in FF mode..but got caught in the first 5minz itself and couldnt leave it till the climax.....simply brilliant
