Going by the enormous amount of publicity on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, banners on college buses, flash mob @ Ampa Sky Walk and flyers for Instincts v7.0, the annual cultural festival of SSN College of Engineering, I was curious to see if the whole event would live up to the expectations.

Beginning with the smooth registration process with help-desks all around to handing out route-maps of the college, every bit of the Instincts-experience was something that will be remembered for a long time.

Entertainment quotient

Kick-started with a rib-tickling inaugural session by comedian Santhanam and “VTV” Ganesh, Day 1 was truly power-packed. The events of SSN Tamil Mandram — Saaral, was flagged off by Vishali Kannadasan with her witty words of wisdom. The highlight of the first day was the first-time-ever-free Pro Show with motley of musicians sharing the amazingly designed main stage. Ajesh, Suchi and Velmurugan truly rocked with “uncle” Keith Peters on bass guitar! To spice up the evening, Blaaze entertained with creative rap and a “truly divine” number on the occasion of Women's Day!

The second day kicked off with “Reels of Fire”, a short film contest, judged by the likes of editor Antony and SSN alumnus, Balaji Mohan of “Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Yeppadi” fame.

In addition, RJ Balaji left the audience ROFL-ing with his spontaneity! There was also a romantic touch to Instincts, in the form of a Salsa workshop wherein people got to spend time with their partners!

It was jam-packed, yet again, for Raja's Pattimandram on the topic “Kaadhalai adhigam potruvadhu aangala/pengala?” Another unexpected event that gave me the adrenaline rush was the bike stunts performed by experts. Choreo Nite seemed to be a befitting finale.

For all the fun-and-frolic the fact that the registration fee was modest was appreciable.

The Hindu NXg was media partner for the event.
