Have you, like me, complained to friends and family that you are not motivated enough to become fit? Or that you are unable to find good trainers near your house? That is an issue Fiturtle, a Bengaluru-based start-up, attempts to resolve with an app. Fiturtle is the brainchild of Saket and Ashish Agarwal. Saket says, “We had worked together in setting up two start-ups, and our latest venture was an app that allows users to find playgrounds near their location. While working on that app, we realised how much we tend to ignore our health. That was when the idea of starting a location-based fitness app came about.”

He adds that the app helps connecting users for fitness. “Fiturtle allows users to discover fitness groups and experts nearby, maintain and share their daily workouts, get fitness queries resolved, get occasional reminders for diet plans and exercise routines. It is built like a social media platform for health.”

“Users can connect with trainers and people having similar fitness profiles around them on the go. We work on the principle that people get inspired by others in their groups who are fit and healthy. Those with similar lifestyles can come together and support each other to stay motivated,” he adds.

Saket points out, “One of the major drawbacks that most people face is the lack of good trainers nearby. They end up joining dubious fitness centres that set unrealistic goals. Once the user is unable to achieve the goals, his confidence falls and he drops out of the exercise regimen. We have made an attempt to get more professional trainers to ensure such situations do not occur.”

Though the app is live only in Bengaluru, Saket says that they plan to go live in other cities soon. “We are soon planning launches in Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.”
