At around 11 a.m. on January 30, 2015, a passer-by at Kasi Chetty Street broke down in front of a plastics shop. A photo-exhibition at its entrance took her back to the day Gandhiji was shot dead by Nathuram Godse in Delhi in 1948. Anand Kumar Bhowmick, known for displaying photos of world and national leaders and actors from his wide collection, on important days at his shop, has attempted something different this time.
He has put up a panel of photos describing the events during the last day of Gandhi’s life. “I collected the photos from books that I purchased during the recent Chennai Book Fair,” says Anand. Snapshots from the exhibition.
