What was expected to be night of glamour turned out to be a battle of nerves as cine celebrities took on cricket stars in a charity football match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The All Star Football Club was led by Abhishek Bachchan whereas the opponent’s team consisted of the Indian cricketers with Virat Kholi as their captain.
In spite of the celebrities sweating it out in practice sessions for the last six months, All Heart Football Club of cricketers outpaced the Junior Bachchan’s team by 4-3.
This charity match was of a different kind as both the teams played a sport that was outside their regular field of expertise. The fund raised went to the Magic Bus Organisation which works for under privileged children.
“Usually people think that such matches are taken lightly by the celebrities but seeing today’s scores at the end of the game, we can say we are not ashamed of losing. Virat came to our locker and said we cricketers didn’t expect that you guys will play this good. Both teams won for us. We had put all our efforts as a team in this game and are eagerly looking forward to a revenge match in Mumbai,” said Abhishek.
During the first half of the match, the cricketers were leading by two goals. And the celebrity team caught up with the pace in the second half by hitting three goals. The last goal of the game was hit by Ranbir and got the loudest cheer. The man of the match went to Manoj Tiwary.
