HYDERABAD: It’s been a long wait for Murali Krishna Mudidani. After working as an assistant director for over dozen films, he got the opportunity to direct Rojulu Marayi, which is set to release on July 1. Recollecting his days with Gunnam Gangaraju’s team, the excited director says, “I worked in Gunnam Gangaraju’s Little Soldiers as assistant director and Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s Aith as co-director.
This is Maruti’s story and he wanted to direct it before Bhale Bhale Magadivoy but was looking for someone to direct it as he had many other prior commitments. A common friend recommended me to Maruti. He narrated the story and I liked it immensely.”
Murali Krishna terms himself a big fan of Krishna. “My brother in law BLV Prasad was a director, he made 35 films.
While I was a student, I would go and watch shootings and that was how I was influenced. I am a voracious reader and I read all kinds of books, especially novels. I wrote a story and felt disheartened though producers who first evinced keen interest, did not respond. But that setback was momentary and I kept returning to cinema.”
Rojulu Marayi is an offshoot of an incident that Maruti read in a newspaper. There are two pairs playing the leads — Chetan and Parvateesam, Kruthika and Tejaswi Madivada. The film that’s touted to be a clean family entertainer begins as a love story and gets into a comic suspense thriller mode.
The movie rolled in December and it was a 55 day shoot. JB scored the music and the cinematography is by Bal Reddy who had worked for Mallela Theeram . Murali Krishna adds, “Maruti saw the film and complemented me, Dil Raju wanted to distribute it and he too enjoyed the film. Film will be out on the first of July.”
