The last few days have been really tough for me. As usual, with the start of a brand new year, I yet again make the resolution of losing weight. Unlike other years, this year, I have decided to stick to my plan. However, the problem which I have been facing every day is to look for healthy food whenI am on the go. It is particularly tough finding healthy food in a restaurant, café or a QSR.
In such a time comes an invite to review Pita Pit, the popular Canadian QSR chain. They describe themselves as healthy quick service chain which encourages healthy eating.
In Delhi NCR, they have three outlets. I go to the one at GK1, M block market. Compared to the other two, the GK 1 outlet is more of a café and lounge. The basic menu is same with pita rolls and salads on of
fer. The best part is, one can customize the salad or wrap according to one’s needs.
To get the flavours, I order the 6 inch variant of pita wrap with chicken crave as the filling along with some veggies.
The concept is, first you have to choose the pita (whole wheat or white wheat), then the stuffing (there are 16 variants) followed by the choice of spread ( hummus/babaganoush/tzatziki) and the sauces (there are 13 variants).
The chicken crave has pieces of smoked chicken and chicken ham. As far as the taste and flavours are concerned, it is pretty average. To taste the other flavours, I ask for each stuffing in separate bowls. I feel the stuffings can be eaten only rolled in a wrap. The crunchy vegetables are certainly required to add to the taste.
The portion of stuffing and the size of the pita are filling, even for a sizeable me!Same is the case with salads. In beverages, the variants of green teas are very impressive, especially the hibiscus and rose flavours.
In desserts, chocolate bran muffins or chocolate truffle cupcakes can help to satisfy your craving for sweets.
In all, my experience at Pita Pit can be termed good, at least I now have a healthy option to hang out with friends.
