Model-turned TV host Varun Mitra talks about what keeps him fit as a fiddle

Being an established model, Varun Mitra says keeping fit has become a part of his life. A face seen endorsing brands like Samsung, Nissan Sunny Car, Raymonds, Tommy Hilfiger 2012, Lamborghini 2012, besides of course spotted on ramps like the Wills India Fashion Week, Varun doesn’t find it difficult to strike a balance between fitness and the fashion world. “It is not at all pressurising for me, it just becomes a part of your life,” he says.

Varun, who is now seen in a new avatar as a TV host, believes that everyone has his/her own fitness regime according to thebody type. “Every body is different, so there is a different workout routine for everyone,” he says. Varun’s show Fearless — Friends Karenge Fear Ka The End aired on Bindass, motivates people to take the challenge of facing their deepest fears with the help of their best friends. “Someone referred my name to the Bindass team; they got in touch with me. I met the whole team and came to know about the format of the show. Fortunately, it all worked out well,” he says.

Getting back to talking fitness, he refers to his fitness schedule as “mixed-up.”

“I keep it mixed-up as it gets pretty boring if you keep doing just once kind of exercise everyday.” He works out five times a week in the gym besides going for a hearty swim twice a week. Sports like football toofind a place in his scheme of things once a week.Varun though never goes for heavy weight training. “The gym he works out in has also some GX (group) exercises, and for a change, he goes for them sometimes.Add to it a bout of meditation to keep his mind in peace. “It is not something I do regularly though, ifs and buts are there,” he says.

Varun believes that any form of exercise can be a stress-buster for him but for the present, it is swimming. “Swimming is the best stress buster for me, as of now.” He is lactose intolerant, so food like cheese is a big no for him. Although Varun does not follow a particular diet plan, he avoids fried food.
