Popular singer Daler Mehndi swears by her sherwanis. And even though she designs only for women, Daler is an exception for whom she designs kurtas and sherwanis. Hina Anjum of Hina Creations participated in Wedding Asia 2011 held last month in the Capital. Along with her, she had brought an array of designs that amalgamated contemporary and traditional patterns of her country. Her stall at the fair was dotted with Pakistani suits, designer salwars, dupattas, Mughal printing, silver tar work and chanderi work.

Traditional ‘ezars' with different stitching patterns at her stall had caught everybody's fancy.

The ethnic Pakistani salwar and kameez boasted exquisite qurashid work. “Many Hindi film actresses have being buying dresses from us through their Mumbai designers,” she said. Her collection also consisted of cotton fabric brand ‘Gul Ahmad' which are beautifully embedded with bright coloured flowers.

Her Indian celeb fan, Daler Mehndi visited her pavilion to check out her latest collection. “Though I only design for women, I had designed an exclusive kurta for Dalerji and since then he's been wearing my designs. It feels really good to know that my designs are being liked in India very much and even the Indian celebrities are fond of them,” said Hina.

Hina's latest assortment had saris and suits in silver aari work, crochet work and Mughal prints. The trousseau collection has sequence and resham work. Subtlety in vibrancy is the hallmark of her designs.

Hina also had her exhibitions in Chandigarh and Hotel Ashok in New Delhi. The designer says India offers designers like her opportunities and exposure. She sees better prospects in India. Hina says she now has a large number of clients, particularly politicians and Punjabis.

Another participant was fashion designer Rashita Sehra, who wooed the Indian brides with her electrifying bridal collection at the Wedding Asia Exhibition. Another label was Sidhartha Agicha, that specialised in western couture comprising exquisite gowns, beautiful evening dresses and gorgeously tailored cocktail wear.
