This is for men, only. Aza Men, which opened at Crescent mall in Qutub, Lado Sarai, intends to be one of the few bright slivers in the Capital's women-dominated fashion scene. As Alka Nishar of Aza puts it, “Indian men need to pump up their style quotient. Only recently someone mentioned how in Milan the men on the street are so stylishly turned out that they're a treat to watch and the way women are dressed in Paris are a sight to behold.”
Aza Men houses collections by designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sabyasachi, Varun Bahl, Gaurav Gupta, Arjun Khanna, Manish Malhotra, Digvijay Singh, Krishna Mehta, Vivek Karunakaran, Vijay Arora, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis, Zubair Kirmani and Lalit Jalan, to name a few. Currently in store are the designers' resort and occasion wear lines (the latter to cater to the ongoing wedding season).
This is the second Aza Men store — the first opened in Mumbai two years ago, with the Aza brand being five years old. “When we opened Aza five years ago we had a small section for men. The female clientele expanded so much that we realised that having a small section for men didn't make sense. By mixing things, the focus tends to gets lost,” says Alka.
Commenting on the USP of AZA Men, she adds, “We are the only ones to have a wide variety of Indian designer wear.”
Besides clothes, the 1,000-sq-ft store will also be stocking men's accessories. So there are ties and cufflinks from the Karan Johar-Varun Bahl collaborative collection, more ties from Rohit Bal and footwear by Narendra Kumar.
Jackets, though, are the flavour of this season too, says Alka. “Lots of parties have started already. There's a strong demand for nice, stylish, well-tailored jackets in different fabrics and colours.” Shirts, obviously, are the eternal pick-me-ups. “It's very easy to buy a shirt. An additional shirt is a spontaneous, easy buy.”
