Printed blazers, a favourite of fashionistas this season, can add zing to any outfit

This season, printed blazers have found a soft spot among the country’s fashion divas. We all saw coloured blazers taking the runways by storm last year. But it’s time to take this style a notch higher. Keep in mind that this trend is not just for women; men too have been seen sporting printed blazers over a pair of ankle-length black pants, think Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh. It makes a comfortable outfit with just enough class to get you through a party after a long day at work.

Floral prints A floral printed blazer is the most simple and sophisticated look to go for. It works well for formal evenings, brunches and tea parties. Team it up with a black or white formal shirt with a little cut work or a strong texture, so it’s subtle and doesn’t demand attention. Chitrangada Singh was seen supporting this at a recent event. Keep your make-up natural, with a pink or red lip colour. Add a pair of stilettos to this outfit and put your hair up in a messy bun.

Quirky prints Quirky prints are quite the craze this season, from shorts to shirts and now blazers. Prints with autos, cows, nerd glasses, cycles, stars, tribal art, stamps and many more are definitely a must-have. Wear a quirky blazer to a relaxed outing with friends, a road trip or just a long day out.

These blazers are best teamed with the geek look. Experiment by adding a pair of nerd glasses, this gives the outfit it’s fun quotient. Converse keep the look young and sporty, accessorise it with long chains.

Traditional blazers These are a personal favourite, traditional blazers can be worn over saris and kurtis. Usually made of fabrics like Chanderi silk, these are a great way to add the Indo-western touch to your modest Indian outfit. Sheer fabrics with velvet prints are apt for weddings and traditional gatherings. A traditional blazer over a long tank top with a pair of black leggings makes for a smart look.

Printed-sequin blazers

Silver and golden-sequined jackets were big last season. This season, we’ve added prints to the long list.Sequins need to be worn right, with minimal white and blacks. Team it with a pair of your favourite pumps for a wild ride. These blazers work best with a little black dress accompanied with gold accessories.
