Stepping through the velvety curtains and the sliding door of One Night in Bangkok, it feels like you’ve been transported to the heart of Thailand.

The wall murals – which include some Muay Thai graffiti – and the Buddha statuettes play a key role to your other-worldly experience as does the dim lighting and the elegant interiors. The relatively small, but well-placed seating area and the classic tunes playing in the background intends to target an older crowd, while the large bar, with its multitude of Thai cocktails, beckons everyone who enters.

Visit the popularly dubbed ‘India’s only Thai dive bar’ for their brand new lunch menu, comprising a variety of yummy appetisers and main courses that leave you wanting more of the holistic Thai experience – even if you can’t take another bite.

Kick off with the spicy prawn salad and it is exactly what it claims to be – a zesty, spicy mix of glass noodles with an assortment of herbs and veggies topped with beautifully-cooked prawns. The Isaan pork sausages that follow are a delightful blend of meaty and savoury flavours that melt in the mouth, while their steamed chicken pearl balls are a tad bit bland, but an extra serving of the sauce that comes with it can improve the dish.

The fragrant-grilled, lemon-seasoned beef is scrumptious and will have you gnawing it right off the lemongrass stalk it is wrapped around. A favourite here is the wrapped prawns in wasabi mayo which compliment each other beautifully leaving you with a pleasant creamy aftertaste (not recommended for spicy food lovers though). Amongst the vegetarian offerings, the fried lotus stem with peanuts is a must-try. It’s great as a light snack and has a lovely texture. But it’s clear that the menu specifically targets the meat-loving crowd – vegetarians, beware.

If you are overwhelmed by the variety of tastes, opt for the milder pork belly rice. The mildness in flavour is compensated by the tastiness of the dish, with the warm fried rice, pork belly topped with shitake mushrooms and covered with a coating of warm runny yolk from a fried egg promises to take you to a happy place.

Top the meal with either the coconut brownie or the coconut cheesecake for a sweet finale.

Give One Night in Bangkok a try with friends or colleagues for a time of fond memories to remember.
