One evening, two plays
TheatreCatch Jannal and Seethaimark Seeyakkai Thool today
Koothu-p-Pattarai presents Jannal and Seethaimark Seeyakkai Thool , two solo plays in Tamil. The plays, based on short stories by Sundara Ramasamy, will be presented by Anandsami. Directed by N. Muthuswamy, the plays have music by Vedanth Bharadwaj.
Jannal , an autobiographical story, draws on the author’s childhood memories of the days he lay bed-ridden in his Nagercoil home. The story has images as seen and experienced through the eyes of the author, and his relationships with characters appearing at his window during this time.
Seethaimark Seeyakai Thool is a comical, yet poignant tale of an artists’ uncompromising rendition of Seetha for an advertisement. The story revolves around three characters — the proud artist Subbiah Achari, his wife Subbamma, and the worldly-wise merchant Panicker.
The plays will be staged at Spaces, No. 1, Elliots Beach Road, Besant Nagar at 7 p.m. on February 16, for 40 minutes without a break. Entry is open to all.
