It is amazing that despite traffic Bengaluru is buzzing with activity. Observing this trend, the co-founders of Brigge, Prasanna Jagannathan, Murali Satagopan and Sampath Jagannathan, decided to tap the hobby-loving Bengalurean and start an app that connects people with similar interests. “Bengaluru is a melting pot of different cultures. There’s a lot going on here,” says Prasanna, co-founder and CEO, Brigge.
He adds, interestingly, that while there are a variety of activities and hobbies, from the niche to the mainstream that some Bengalureans are deeply engaged with. “On the other hand,” says Prasanna, “there are those who don’t know those things are happening.”
So, in a first, Brigge has organised a Leisure Festival, Bangalore Hobby Week, from August 26 to September 4. The Hobby Week will be held simultaneously across approximately 30 venues. Prasanna says: “We have 100 activities and 20 hobbies planned.” These include a mind-boggling range, from Bonsai making classes, Poetry reading sessions, mix and learn cocktail workshop, Roof Top movie screening to Sneaker collection showcase, beer workshop, basics of tech-blogging, Bangalore Laughter carnival, among many others. “The idea is to get people out of their homes and away from their mobile phones to pursue their hobbies. We are seeing an incredible interest, and the rise of more and more activities.”
As for how the app works, Prasanna explains: “Sign up. Create a group and then post an activity, and then share it on social media networks. Some good quality groups have been created this way and showcased in the Hobby Week.”
All Hobby Week activities will be on the app, brigge. “Some of the interesting ones will be selected and featured in the hobbyweek.co website. For more information call: 9600085470 .
