An audio-teaser for the much-awaited Mungaru Male 2 (MM 2) – a sequel to the 2006 blockbuster Mungaru Male is all set to be released by director Shashank next week. This will also be uploaded on YouTube. The teaser was particularly important for MM 2 as people’s curiosity was unprecedented, says Shashank.

Mungaru Male by Yograj Bhat, with its super hit songs and background score by Mano Murthy, was a rage that created history for its longest multiplex run and box office collections.

“We announced the sequel in 2014 for this super hit film. Wherever we went for the shooting, we were faced with a barrage of questions regarding the music for MM2. People wanted to know who was doing the music, who was writing the lyrics and whether the melody was similar to the first version and so on and so forth,” recalls Shashank. “My answer to such queries is this audio-teaser, where people will get a taste of these starters before the audio-release, which is planned for August this year. Such extraordinary interest shown for the sequel speaks volumes about Mungaru Male’s original score,” adds Shashank.

MM 2 has eight songs, with music scored by Arjun Janya. “Arjun was waiting for a love story to showcase his musical flair. Lyricists — Jayant Kaikini and Kaviraj – have returned to MM 2 to pen their magic again,” says Shashank. The sequel will feature Ganesh, Neha Shetty, Ravichandran and Aindrita Ray. The melody too will be another pivotal feature adding zing to the film,” beams the director.

Has the high expectation from the audience put the team through stress? “ Mungaru Male happened 10 years ago. MM 2 is targeted at the younger generation. Even the music leans towards contemporary melodies. The film’s score will see a slight shift in the trend, as the presentation now has been updated,” explains Shashank as he heads off to handle the release of MM 2 , his seventh film as a director.
