Yet another restaurant to debut in Connaught Place is the popular casual dining food chain, Nando’s. Yes, the famous peri peri flame grilled chicken giant which is a delight for any chicken lover.

I still remember that when I first reviewed it in 2012 when it launched its first outlet in Delhi’s DLF Promenade Mall, it had a waiting list of 112 people on the day of my visit.

I somehow sneaked in and witnessed more bones on the table than the chicken. Delhiites were just crazy about the peri peri sauces. It has been almost two years and the craze has dipped only slightly.

Even the CP outlet was packed and had its patrons drooling over the grilled meat. But frankly, I enjoy my first dish most, because after a while it becomes repetitive. It’s just the spiciness which varies but the chicken remains the same. The thing for which I will go there again and again is the way they grill their chicken with skin in its own animal fat making it juicy to the core.

I started with a bowl of Nando’s special Caesar salad which had amazing crunchy croutons but on the whole missed that zing. But who goes to Nando’s to have salads? Next I called for peri peri chicken and the chicken wings which varied from mild, hot and very hot on the peri-ometer. Both tasted almost same but were damn good. The wings were juicy and also had that crunch right at the end of the wings.

One of the new additions was the all together new platter consisting hummus topped with peri peri sauce, spicy mixed olives and a vegetarian dip made out of grilled veggies mixed with cheese and served with pita. I loved every bit of the dip while the hummus was very average and so was the pita.

One of the signatures espetada rustica was tender and as usual beautifully presented on a hanging skewer.

This time I tried their burger and the stuffed pita and liked the pita to its core. Grilled aubergine and a trio of hummus with grilled onions give the chicken fillet some perfect Moroccan flavours.

One thing I would like to recommend is their corn on the cob, simply amazing which goes well with every dish on the menu.
